I'm bad at failing. Really, really terrible at it. This becomes a problem when it prevents me from trying something new, or just playing around with something I already love to do to see what happens.
One of the things I've been wanting to do for a while is get better at drawing. I've always been able to draw a bit, but I'm not really proficient at it, and I'm certainly not fast. I'd also like to do a little watercolor painting.
So in my typical fashion, I have been reading, researching, buying books, paints, and endless pencils. Because surely by becoming an expert on drawing and painting materials and supplies, I will naturally become good at drawing and painting, right? WRONG! There's no way to improve my skills other than to just DO the things I want to do.
To that end, I decided to jump in this morning. In my copious research, I kept coming across references to Danny Gregory's Everyday Matters challenge list. And I'm really busting out of my comfort zone by jumping in at #24.
So here it is, my first visual journal entry, drawn from life.
