The images in this alphabet series were created by placing the objects directly on a flatbed scanner. I originally started this project in photo school, quite a while ago, and finally finished it last year, thanks to Anne's A-B-C-Along.
I've been noticing the manhole covers on the sidewalk on the way into my internship in the mornings. There are some neat ones - one that says steam in the middle and has lines going out almost like sunrays. We should walk around Philly when you come out and visit and you can take some photos of the manhole covers here.
Have you seen the book Quilting with Manhole Covers by Shirley MacGregor? Manhole covers were photographed in Japan and then made into quilts. Very beautiful.
